Top Ten Productivity Tips
to Ensure Productive Appointments
- Call and/or email prior to the appointment to verify.
- Arrive on time (and this means planning to arrive early).
- Expect that you will have to wait so bring something to work on or read.
- Determine your questions, issues, or goals for the appointment.
- Agree on an agenda ahead of time (or just at the beginning of the appointment).
- Find out how much time the other person has.
- Determine how much time you have.
- Meet where there are no (or limited) distractions (e.g., phone, email, drop ins, etc.)
- Set up the environment for productivity (close door, ask that phones be turned off, have out the "tools" that you need).
- Have the tools you need to be productive (your planner, someplace to take notes, a timer so you don't have to keep checking your watch).
Doing these 10 (or even some of these 10) will ensure that you (and those you're working with) are more productive. Give at least one of these ideas a try this week.
